Sarah Goodis-Orenstein
Sarah is eager to join the Homestead School as a dual administrative team member and upper elementary teacher for the 23/24 school year! After finishing her undergraduate program in English Education at New York University, Sarah taught English Language Arts, ran literacy interventions, and served in school and network leadership positions with the NYC Department of Education and a few public charter school networks in Brooklyn. Along the way, she got married, earned her Master’s degree in Adolescent Literacy Development from Hunter College, and had two fantastic children who will also be joining the Homestead community.
Sarah and her husband recently uprooted their family for a radical life change and have been loving the pace and easy access to nature. She has been developing a new hobby in gardening and trail running, and she continues to love cuddling up with a cup of coffee and a good book or her journal, trying out new recipes and restaurants, and listening to podcasts on the science of reading and random, societal idiosyncrasies.
Sarah is humbled to join such an established, values-driven school as the Homestead, and she looks forward to bringing her passion for empowering children with authentic literacy skills, and her skills with facilitating collaborative professional learning and aligning rigorous, engaging instructional practices.
