Transport

The daily commute to school ranges from 5 to 55 minutes. Many families at the Homestead School move to Glen Spey, NY and the surrounding area to join the school, while still commuting to a job in New York City. To ease the burden of transportation, we offer our students different transportation options.

School Busing Available

Many of our students utilize their local school district’s school busing.

Currently, busing to the Glen Spey campus (for K to Grade 6) is available for families living in the:

  • Eldred Central School District
  • Monticello Central School District (will bus 4 year old students)
  • Port Jervis City School District
  • Sullivan West Central School District

Currently, busing to the Hurleyville CCHS campus (Grade 7 to 11) is available for families living in the:

  • Fallsburg Central School District
  • Liberty Central School District
  • Monticello Central School District
  • Sullivan West Central School District
  • Tri-Valley Central School District

Shuttle service is also currently available between Glen Spey and the Hurleyville CCHS campus with a limited number of seats.

Depending on the route and distance to and from the school, the bus ride can take between 10-45 minutes.

Carpooling Options

To reduce our school’s carbon footprint as well as parents’ time spent commuting, we encourage our parents to carpool whenever possible, especially if busing is not available for your child(ren). Not sure who to carpool with? We can help you facilitate that by putting you in touch with other non-bus families living close by.

In addition, we arrange for carpooling for our school outings with trusted parents that volunteer as chaperones/drivers.
