Meibell Contreras

Meibell Contreras is a computer scientist with a deep passion for education. For 20 years, she worked as a Software Developer, Project Manager, and Tech Leader for various tech consulting companies.  In 2012, she had the opportunity to teach programming and technology to young adults in a Columbia University community program, and she fell in love with teaching. Since then, she has taught high school students in STEM programs at Barnard College, as well as elementary and middle school students in a Catholic school, a Yeshiva, homeschool settings, and a public school. In 2016, she began teaching Spanish to children and adults. When her youngest child started college in 2023, Meibell and her husband moved from NYC to Upstate New York. Besides teaching, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and knitting.
