Carla is a Head Teacher in the Upper Elementary classroom. She holds a degree in Business Economics, a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning, a Masters in Education, and is also Montessori certified. Before joining the Homestead School in 2016, Carla taught in New York City public schools for five years. After having her three children and starting a design-build architecture firm with her husband that they operated for 11 years, she was starting to feel a bit cramped and ready for a change. The family moved to the area to build their sustainable Passive House, and Carla started teaching at the Homestead.
“What I love about teaching is that I am never bored! The students are forever challenging my ideas, pushing me to learn more, and allowing me to experience the world through their fresh eyes.”
