Annabelle Baylin

Annabelle Baylin

After teaching in an early childhood classroom at Homestead in 2021, Annabelle has joined the Administrative Team as our Mindfulness and Anti-bias consultant.  A born-and-raised Brooklynite and new resident of Sullivan County, Annabelle Baylin holds a Bachelor of Arts in mindfulness in education from NYU and a Master of Science in early childhood general and special education from Brooklyn College. She taught PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade at private schools in New York City for 8 years before joining Homestead as an early childhood educator  in 2021.  Some of her passions as a teacher include: bringing mindfulness into the daily routines of the classroom, facilitating an emergent curriculum, playing in nature, early literacy, engaging in social justice work with children, and making music. In her free time she enjoys studying Indian music, spending time traveling and exploring upstate NY with her wife, and obsessively photographing their two Bengal cats.

Young children have an innate understanding of justice and are incredibly capable of engaging in complex conversations about our world, if given the tools and language to do so.  As educators, I believe it is our responsibility to empower children to speak up and take action for good.
