The Homestead School offers children ages 2.5 years to 18 years (Pre-K through 12th grade) a unique, life-enriching, Montessori-based educational experience.

Homestead Campus (Primary School)
Glen Spey, NY

  • Fully equipped, spacious Montessori classrooms complemented by an extensive outdoor learning environment
  • 85 acres with endless opportunities to explore the fields, forests, ponds, and streams
  • Working farm with huge organic gardens as well as chickens, goats, sheep, and other farm animals
  • Biodome featuring a tropical habitat as well as all-year-round produce
  • Outdoor based curriculum supported by all season heated Tipi for each classroom
  • Sustainable campus with solar panels, water harvesting, and a student designed geodesic dome that serves as an ongoing experimental, green architecture learning lab

Collaborative Campus (Secondary School)
Hurleyville, NY

  • Main building with classrooms and state of the art maker’s space including Mac lab, video and sound recording studio, ceramics studio, 3D fabrication lab, and woodworking shop 
  • Students dually enrolled with SUNY Sullivan and receive the full host of services including access to the SUNY Sullivan library, sports facilities, technology, and academic support system
  • Access to The Center for Discovery’s working farm with organic gardens and farm animals
  • Rail Trail and basketball courts adjacent to the main building
  • Active partnership including enrichment taught by local business owners in Hurleyville ranging from Fiber Arts to dance, to writing for the local newspaper. 

Key Facts About The School

Both campuses are located in the Tri-State area, 35 minutes from each other.  The original Homestead Glen Spey campus is 2 hours from New York City (25 minutes from Monticello). The Hurleyville campus is 10 minutes north of Monticello. The school serves students from Sullivan County (NY), Orange County (NY), Pike County (PA), Sussex County (NJ), and Wayne County (PA).
